Parts of the regions of Istria and Dalmatia – today parts of Slovenia and Croatia – were part of Italy between the end of the First World War and the end of the Second World War (1915-1947), when they were annexed by Yugoslavia.
Many immigrants from that region, with Italian language and citizenship, migrated after the annexation of the region by Yugoslavia.
Even though the region is currently an integral part of other countries, descendants of Italian citizens born there between 1915 and 1947 are entitled to Jus Sanguinis Italian citizenship.
