Italian Citizenship – By Marriage

Italian citizenship can also be obtained through marriage.

Two years after the marriage, if the applicant resides in Italy, or three years if the spouses live abroad, the foreign spouse can apply for Italian citizenship for themselves. This period is halved if the couple has children.
